We learned in the last few days that Bo Horvat had refused a final contract offer from the Vancouver Canucks, which officially meant that he was going to be traded by the team by the trade deadline.

According to rumours, the 27-year-old center rejected an offer of eight years and $8 million per season, for a total of $64 million.
According to tipster Frank Seravalli, there is at least one team in the NHL that is willing to give him $9 million, on average annually, on the free agent market.
A surprising team would enter fiercely into the Horvat derby
According to reporter Stefen Rosner, who covers the New York Islanders, team GM Lou Lamoriello has reportedly contacted the Canucks about their captain and is reportedly aggressive in the matter.
After two straight Eastern finals appearances, before a poor season last year, it appears the Islanders are all-in for this year. The New York team currently sits in last place giving access to the playoffs, just ahead of the Washington Capitals, with a one-point lead but two games in hand.
Moreover, according to the same journalist, a name that would definitely be involved in a potential transaction, would be the young prospect Aatu Raty, who makes his debut this season in the AHL.
He is 20 years old and was a second round pick in 2021 by the Islanders. It will certainly take more than that to acquire Horvat, but Raty would be one of the pieces the Canucks would want.
