Jonathan Toews Forced Out of Winnipeg Jets Preseason Contest Due to Apparent Injury

The Winnipeg Jets continue to prepare for opening night and tonight took on the Minnesota Wild.

So far the preseason has not been kind to the Jets after they lost breakout defenseman Dylan Samberg to injury and tonight the team's injury luck continues to get worse.

Heading into the game, the Jets rolled out a mostly NHL heavy lineup featuring big names like Jonathan Toews, Cole Perfetti, Connor Hellebuyck and others.

Unfortunately, what was supposed to be an exciting inside look into the Jets lineup has turned into a nightmare quickly as two key forwards have gone down due to injury.

According to multiple reports both Toews and Namestnikov were ruled out due to injuries suffered at different times.

Toews first suffered his injury with just under 11 minutes left in the second period.

He was unfortunately unable to return not being seen to start the third period and then late in the game forward Vlad Namestnikov was plastered along the boards leading him to also suffer a scary looking injury after colliding head first with the boards.

Despite getting up under his own power Namestnikov would leave the game and not return.

Toews of course is working himself back from a long hiatus due to various medical problems but has been expected to be a key part of this Jets lineup.

Hopefully, in both cases the final diagnosis are not as severe as they originally seem to be and Toews as well as Namestnikov can be back in the lineup by opening night for the Jets.

To this point, head coach Scott Arniel and the Jets have not provided an injury update on either player.
