NHL analysts discussed whether the Oilers have made a decision on who their goalie tandem will be, and when we can expect to see it.

The Edmonton Oilers appear to be evaluating their goalie tandem for the 2025-26 season as Tristan Jarry nears a return from injury.
NHL analysts say Connor Ingram could be in line to partner with Jarry, but questions remain about Calvin Pickard's role.
Tyler Yaremchuk notes the Oilers could keep three goalies temporarily. This would allow Jarry to regain form without facing heavy workloads in practice and remain fully healthy.
By the trade deadline, Edmonton might need to send Pickard down to create cap space, but with Adam Henrique on LTIR, a three-goalie setup is workable.

What goalie has been better statistically

Statistically, Zach Laing highlights that Pickard has been slightly better in his four starts than Ingram in six. Still, Ingram has delivered five quality starts, games where the starter finishes with a save percentage above league average.
Excluding his poor start against the Boston Bruins, Ingram posts a .913 save percentage, 2.38 goals-against average, and 2.04 goals saved above expected.
Liam Horrobin agrees that Ingram has been the superior option this season, producing quality starts in every game except the Bruins matchup.

Why Calvin Pickard could be lost on waivers

Baggedmilk predicts that Pickard could be lost on waivers. He sees another team claiming him as playoff insurance, a move that would leave the Oilers with Jarry and Ingram as the main tandem.
With Jarry returning, the Oilers now face a decision between proven depth in Pickard and the strong, consistent play of Ingram. How Edmonton handles this could shape the team's goaltending for the rest of the season.
