The latest news for veteran Edmonton Oilers forward Adam Henrique is not good, as he's expected to miss multiple weeks after he got hurt while blocking a shot from Filip Forsberg in their win over the Nashville Predators.
The Edmonton Oilers handily defeated the Nashville Predators on home ice, but they also lost a veteran member of their forward group.
Adam Henrique was hurt during the first period while blocking a shot from Predators forward Filip Forsberg, and he left the game. Oilers head coach Kris Knoblach was then asked about his status after the game, and he said that he's going to miss some time.
No official status, but I think he'll be out for a little while. - Kris Knoblauch
At the same time, the Oilers are expected to soon bring back defenseman Jake Walman from Long Term Injured Reserve, and could potentially put Henrique in his spot on that list.
So far this year, Henrique has 10 points (2G, 8A) in 43 games.
Adam Henrique Is Playing In His Second Full Year In An Oilers Sweater
Henrique was taken with the 82nd pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, where he would play the first several years of his career, and scored the OT GWG in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final against the divisional foe New York Rangers in 2012.
Earlier that postseason, he also scored the Game 7 OT GWG in the first round against the Florida Panthers.
He would later be traded to the Anaheim Ducks in 2017 with Joseph Blandisi and a third round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft to Anaheim for Sami Vatanen and a conditional draft pick in 2019 or 2020.
The Oilers acquired him in 2024 at the Trade Deadline from the Ducks, and he's been part of the Edmonton club to advance twice in a row to the Stanley Cup Final but fall short to the Panthers.
He's in the last year of his two year deal with an AAV (average annual value) of $3 million.
