Kiefer Sherwood is drawing immense interest ahead of the trade deadline, and now, the New York Rangers are seemingly pushing hard to land him.
The NHL trade deadline is just a matter of two months away, and while there's a massive Olympic break in the middle, this is shaping up to be one of the most exciting periods in recent NHL history.
One of the teams that are set to play a major part in this time is the Vancouver Canucks, a team that's taken a major step backwards after a poor 2024/25 campaign, as they look set to be a lottery team ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft.
New York Rangers pushing hard for Canucks veteran
One veteran that is set to draw the Canucks a major return is Kiefer Sherwood, who set the NHL's single season record for hits a year ago, while also putting up a career high in goals with 19 at the age of 30.
Now, with the team struggling, he's set to draw immense interest, with no less than five teams already being linked to him, and according to Vince Mercogliano, the New York Rangers are now a team that are well and truly in play for the talented winger.
With 17 goals already this season, Sherwood is well on track to set a new career high, and with the physicality and the play in his own defensive zone that he brings, he would be the perfect addition for a team looking to upgrade ahead of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Whether that's the Rangers or another contender looking to make a splash, it's likely that Sherwood is going to be dealt in the coming weeks, and for the Canucks, they'll be hoping that a bidding war can continue to increase the price.
