Jets coach Scott Arniel provided an update on the status of Haydn Fleury following the game after he was stretchered off and rushed to the hospital.
Haydn Fleury was carried off on a stretcher in the first period of the Winnipeg Jets' 4-3 overtime loss to the Vegas Golden Knights Tuesday night at Canada Life Centre.
The event occurred at the 13:16-minute mark of the game when Fleury attempted to remove the puck from his own zone and was collided with by Golden Knights forward Keegan Kolesar.
What happened to Haydn Fleury in last night's game
Fleury was forced out of balance and slid into the end boards with his back and neck area hitting first. His head and upper body collided heavily with the boards.
Medical personnel immediately came to the defensemen's aid, and Fleury was removed from the ice on a stretcher and sent to the hospital. Kolesar was not penalized for the play.
After the game, Winnipeg head coach Scott Arniel confirmed that Fleury would spend the night in the hospital for observation and revealed further details about what he was currently suffering from.
"It's unfortunate," Winnipeg coach Scott Arniel said. "I think it was far enough away, but just the way Fleury was crossing over, obviously he totally lost his balance and then went in hard. ... You hate to see that stuff. Scary situation."
"Obviously, he's got a lot of tests to go through," Arniel said. "He does have a broken nose. There's a few different things that happened off it. A little bit of everything. He obviously slammed his back, his neck, hit his head, and then obviously his nose."

Why the Jets will miss Haydn Fleury's presence on the back end
The 28-year-old Fleury has played in 17 games for the Winnipeg Jets and has not yet registered a point. His usage on the blue line has come on the third unit, where he has given the team some toughness.
Another update on the status of Fleury can be anticipated later in the day as the Jets accumulate more data from his medical testing.
