After the Vancouver Canucks traded captain and former Norris Trophy winner Quinn Hughes last month, team president Jim Rutherford is now outlining their plans for a team rebuild.

Once again, the Vancouver Canucks find themselves floundering, having lost six straight games and fallen to the bottom of the Western Conference standings.
Their multi-game winning streak in December after the stunning trade of captain Quinn Hughes seems all but a distant memory now, and things just got even more bleak with the latest injury to goaltender Thatcher Demko.
Canucks team president Jim Rutherford recently disclosed the team's plans about their rebuild, and hinted that there could be more trades coming at the Trade Deadline.
I would suggest that we listen to teams when they call - about anybody. But that would be the same whether we're winning or losing. When someone talks about a hybrid rebuild, it means the team is not shopping every player.

Even though the Canucks are not shopping every player they have now committed to a rebuild and building around younger players.
But prior to this, we already made the decision that we were going to go with younger players. Over the past few years, our staff has done a good job and we have a number of good young players, whether they're in our lineup now or close to getting in our lineup. And those players are going to get a chance to play. Based on the circumstances with this team, this is the year to do it. The fact of the matter is we're in a rebuild. - Jim Rutherford

The Canucks Have Several Players Involved In Trade Rumours

After the trade of Hughes in December to the Minnesota Wild, there remained several other players who are embroiled in trade rumours.
The most likely candidates to be moved include forwards Kiefer Sherwood and Conor Garland.
Additionally, names like Elias Pettersson and even Evander Kane have been thrown out there as possible trade candidates.
The Trade Deadline this year is on March 6.
