McDavid's former teammate, Lauri Korpikoski, retires from Pro Hockey

The former first round pick of the New York Rangers, Lauri Korpikoski, has retired from TPS in Liiga and Professional Hockey after almost 20 years.

Lauri Korpikoski has retired from professional hockey at the age of 37. Korpikoski has played for five teams over the course of his career. Those teams include the New York Rangers, where he was drafted 19th overall, the Phoenix Coyotes, the Edmonton Oilers, the Dallas Stars, and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Korpikoski played his best statistical season in 2010-11 for the Phoenix Coyotes where he scored 40 points in 79 games.


Korpikoski also played for the Edmonton Oilers, where he played alongside Connor McDavid in his rookie season. At this time Korpikoski was 29 years old, scoring 22 points along the way. Korpikoski fisnished his NHL career with 201 points total through 609 career NHL games.
