NHL Hall of Fame goalie Glenn Hall, who reshaped the position and the game of hockey, has sadly passed away at the age of 94.
On Wednesday night, the hockey world learned that Chicago Blackhawks legend Glenn Hall passed away at the age of 94.
Hall, a Hall of Fame goaltender with his number retired by the Blackhawks, ranks second in franchise history in wins and holds the NHL record for consecutive games played by a goalie, including the regular season and playoffs, with 552.
Where Glenn Hall played in his legendary career
Hall's career spanned 18 NHL seasons, including time with the Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues, but his legacy is most closely tied to Chicago, where he spent 10 seasons and became one of the defining players in franchise history.
His consistency and durability during that era set a standard rarely matched by goaltenders.
Over the course of his career, Hall captured the Calder Trophy, three Vezina Trophies, the Stanley Cup, and the Conn Smythe Trophy, while also earning 11 NHL All-Star selections.
Those accomplishments later placed him on the NHL's list of the 100 Greatest Players in league history during the centennial season.
Why Glenn Hall is labelled as a champion in Edmonton
Before his NHL stardom, Hall also found success in Canada, winning an Allan Cup championship with the Edmonton Flyers, a key early chapter in his hockey journey.
Remarkably, many of Hall's records and accolades were earned without wearing a goalie mask, underscoring the toughness and commitment that defined his career and cemented his place among the greatest goaltenders the game has ever seen.
