Fans Calling Out Matt Rempe After Disrespectful Gesture

It seems like fan controversy follows New York Rangers rookie forward Matt Rempe wherever he goes, even on his day off.

So, after the Rangers snagged a thrilling 4-3 shootout win against the Florida Panthers, Rempe made an appearance at JP's Sports & Rock Solid Promotions. Rumor has it, he was there for his rookie card photo shoot. It resulted in a meet and greet with the big man himself.

Yet things in the friendly photo shoot turned when someone brought along a snapshot of Nathan Bastian after Rempe accidentally took him out during his debut against the New Jersey Devils.


In response, the Devils decided to beef up their lineup by bringing in Kurtis Macdermid from the Colorado Avalanche. And in their rematch, where the Rangers clinched a 3-1 victory on March 11th, Rempe found himself in hot water again, getting ejected for a hit on Jonas Seigenthaler, which earned him a four-game suspension.


Macdermid, known for his tough-guy persona, tried to challenge Rempe to a showdown, but the rookie opted for the referee's protection instead.

When Rempe saw that photo of Bastian, he signed it and even said Macdermid is next to join his list of victims, next time they face off on April 3rd.


Now, Rempe's quickly making a name for himself as one of the toughest players in the NHL.

Sure, he's bound to make mistakes, but he seems determined to learn from them.

In fact, he even admitted he was wrong.

However, antics like this don't help. While his physicality brings intensity to the game, let's hope he doesn't take it too far. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt.
