The latest blockbuster trade proposal by Heavy.com has Ducks star player Mason McTavish join Vancouver in exchange for Tom Wilander, Nils Hoglander, and a pick. The Vancouver Canucks have a disappointing season behind them and are looking to get back into playoff consideration. They will need to add more top-line talent in order to do that. Heavy.com recently brewed up a blockbuster trade concept that would have Vancouver pick up Anaheim Ducks center Mason McTavish. The 22-year-old third-overall pick in 2021 recorded 22 goals and 30 assists for 52 points in 76 games last campaign.
Mason McTavish Remains Without a Contract, Leading to Many Trade Rumors
Now an unsigned RFA, Mason McTavish has appeared in trade rumors, and he'd fit right into the Canucks' top six immediately while providing youth and long-term potential. Any trade would presumably accompany a big extension in Vancouver.

Loading from Twitter ...

The proposal would cost dearly. As per Heavy.com, the Canucks would send their 2023 first-round prospect, Tom Willander, who is an NHL-ready defenseman prospect, a first-round draft choice, and forward Nils Höglander. Canucks acquire: -Mason McTavish Ducks acquire: -Tom Willander -Nils Hoglander -2026 first-round pick Tom Willander, an 11th overall selection, is viewed as one of the top young defensemen in the league and would soon see action in Anaheim's lineup. Nils Hoglander, in the first season of a three-year, $9 million deal, tallied eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 72 games last season. He'd slot in a third-line depth role on the Ducks. Anaheim receives a solid return to soften the blow of losing McTavish and receives an NHL-level forward and a best-of-class defensive prospect in the trade. However, with McTavish's possibility of being a top-six center, he would be coveted by multiple clubs if put on the trade market. As Daily Faceoff's Anthony DiMarco indicated, the longer contract negotiations go on, the more a trade becomes possible. This is a piggyback off of the first question, but it is fun to conjure up a potential trade on the horizon, DiMarco wrote. I am not sure if he will move eventually, but I am very curious to see what happens with Mason McTavish with the Anaheim Ducks. After the trade of Trevor Zegras to the Philadelphia Flyers, I can't imagine that McTavish doesn't stay put in Anaheim. But with each passing day as we get deeper into the summer, you have to wonder how this all plays out., DiMarco added. If there is an eventual path to McTavish being moved, you can be sure that there will be no shortage of teams waiting in line to inquire about his services. With his age and production, McTavish would be a strong building block for any club's future core, including Vancouver's.
