As the saying goes: all roads lead to Rome. Well, in the NHL it's kind of the same thing, as all the trade rumors lead to the Habs.

This time, it's the best player available on the market that would be linked to the Tricolore, Bo Horvat. This was done on 98.5 Sports with former Canucks player Antoine Roussel.
Well, I'm going to break the fun right now, even though the Canucks captain was a very interesting catch to solidify the CH's center line with Nick Suzuki, it's almost certain that he doesn't want to land in Montreal.
He refused to re-sign in Vancouver because he wants to join a team that will give him a chance to win the Stanley Cup, something the Canucks haven't seemed able to do in the last few years, despite having some very good players on the roster.
The plan to acquire him via a trade and pay future assets for him would be a counterproductive plan with the rebuilding of the club. If the goal was to make him a contract offer next summer, I'd understand better, but to make a trade in the middle of the season for him makes no sense.
Besides, adding Horvat would significantly hurt the real race that the CH has to aim for, which is to get the best possible selection rank for the next draft.
Since the Canucks' number 53 is going to cost a lot of money to acquire via a trade, it's not worth paying a first round pick and prospects for a player who is not sure to stay with the team at the end of the year.
Nice try, but this acquisition proposal doesn't make sense for the Habs!
