Despite the fact that Sean Avery hasn't played in the NHL for over a decade, he remains a household name among fans. Avery was a controversial player on and off the ice, and he didn't slow down once he retired, turning to podcasts and social media to express bold opinions.

Now he's facing some very serious accusations from his ex-wife, who recently asked a court to extend a restraining order she obtained against Avery for herself and their three-year-old son. This request was granted.
According to court documents obtained by ETonline.com, Hilary Rhoda accuses Avery of entering her home and lying in her bed twice without her consent after their divorce in 2022.
"He grabbed me by the arms and shook me twice. I was very scared for my safety and called the police.

I am afraid of Sean and feel threatened by this behavior and his acts of physical violence.

Sean also screams, swears and insults constantly. He follows me, trying to provoke me to react. He has engaged in numerous acts of physical violence against me and others. Sean has also been physically and emotionally abusive to our son, Nash."

Rhoda recounted an incident she said occurred in June 2022, involving their three-year-old son.
"Sean got upset that our son woke up sick in the middle of the night. He yelled at me (in front of Nash) to go get Nash's "damn medicine," then violently punched the wall in Nash's room and then punched our bedroom door. (Nash witnessed this and was frightened and clinging to me). Sean then followed me to the kitchen, and as I tried to take Nash's medicine, he violently opened the cupboard door, crushing my finger between the open cupboard and the wall. I was petrified by Sean's physical and aggressive behavior."

The 36-year-old model also claimed that Avery "violently threw Nash onto the changing table" and that he was driving in his car without properly securing the young child in a car seat, while alleging that Avery smoked cannabis before driving. Rhoda added that Avery had admitted to her that he was addicted to Oxycontin, and claimed that this addiction was the cause of many of his behaviors.

Neither Avery's nor Rhoda's attorneys responded to ET's request for comment. None of these allegations have been tested or proven in court.
Remember that Avery also dated the lovely Quebecker Elisha Cuthbert. See photos on the next page.
