Radko Gudas Reveals Why He Turned Down The Leafs Offer

The Toronto Maple Leafs spent this offseason trying to become a more physical and difficult team to play against. One of the players they are now confirmed to have tried to sign is Radko Gudas. Gudas however decided to sign in Anaheim. He recently went into his decision-making process when signing.

Gudas Picks The Ducks

On July 1st Radko Gudas decided to sign a three-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks worth a total of $12 million. He will bring experience and leadership to a young defensive core.

Gudas Explains his decision

Recently Gudas did an interview where he explained why he not only stayed away from Toronto but Canada entirely. Here is a bit of what he had to say on the matter.

"In an interview with DenikSport, Radko Gudas said that he received offers from CGY & EDM & TOR. But he didn't want to play in Canada, especially in Toronto. He said the media pressure in the playoffs was crazy. He felt it even though he only played for Florida & not Toronto."

While this is a disappointing answer for many Leafs fans it is not one that should come as a surprise. Recently Ryan O'Reilly shared many of the same thoughts after he decided to sign in Nashville. While the media attention may turn away a few players in the process the excitement of playing for Canada's most popular franchise will also draw many in.
