Friedman Discusses Nylander's Future

Friedman stated that the Toronto Maple Leafs had contemplated trading 27-year-old forward William Nylander this offseason. However, a suitable deal never materialized, suggesting that Nylander is likely to stay in Toronto for the immediate future.

His words were:

"I think the Maple Leafs just decided [to keep him for this year] I think they looked at trading him. I don't think they liked what was out there.

I mean, he did score 40 goals last year. He's a really talented guy and in the playoffs, he was involved in a couple of their really successful moments against Tampa Bay. I think they know that and recognize that; they didn't like what was out there [in the trade market]."

Will Nylander Be Traded?

In a recent conversation with Friedman, Nylander reiterated his desire to remain a Maple Leaf.

Nylander has spent his entire professional career with the Leafs, who picked him 8th overall in the 2014 draft. He has accumulated 177 goals and 253 assists over 521 games since then.

While Brad Treliving could potentially move him for a lucrative return, there's currently no indication that will happen.

Don't rule out the possibility of a Nylander trade come the next deadline, especially if no deal is in place by then. However, keep in mind that he could be a significant asset for the Leafs in upcoming playoffs, which might influence Treliving's decision to retain him.
