Winnipeg Jets and Kyle Connor Nearing Extension Ahead of Season Start, per Insider

The Winnipeg Jets and Kyle Connor continue to try and hammer away at an extension before the regular season begins.

After the recent extension completed between the Minnesota Wild and Kirill Kaprizov resetting the winger market Connor is the next big winger lined up for a deal.

This deal initially led sources to believe Connor would hold out for a massive deal similar to Kaprizov's but now that seems to have changed.

Over the last couple of days, reports have suggested that Kyle Connor and the Winnipeg Jets have made progress on a long-term deal that will still allow the Jets to maintain some salary cap flexibility.

Tonight, a report from the insiders at The Fourth Period have placed a firm timeline on when the two sides plan to have a deal done.

According to the crew at The Fourth Period including insider David Pagnotta, the Jets are planning to strike a deal with Connor before the team's regular season kicks off on Thursday.

With the two sides reportedly making progress toward a deal it would not be surprising to see Connor and the Jets get something done in the next three days before opening night.

Kyle Connor has been an absolute stud for the Winnipeg Jets over the last couple of seasons setting his career high in points last season with 97 in 82 games.
