Insider Confirms One Western Conference Team Expected To Make A Major Push For Connor McDavid

Connor McDavid remains without a contract extension from the Edmonton Oilers as the two sides continue to negotiate.

McDavid being unsigned this late into the year has caused alarm across the league from fans and insiders alike.

While it is still likely that McDavid returns to Edmonton next season every day that goes by without an extension leads to more speculation.

A recent report from insider Darren Dreger has revealed that goaltending could be the x-factor that convinces McDavid to leave Edmonton for a new home.

During a recent appearance on the Barn Burner Show, Dreger spoke about McDavid's future and admitted that the Dallas Stars stability in the net could make them an attractive option for McDavid.

In both of the last two Stanley Cup Finals the Oilers have been let down by their goaltending which has been a position of need for multiple years now.

Despite the clear need, Stan Bowman and the front office refuse to make a move.

This inaction from the front office could force McDavid to side with the Dallas Stars in free agency to team up with superstar goalie Jake Oettinger who himself has carried the Stars to multiple playoff series wins.

Again, McDavid is still unlikely to leave but if he does not sign soon these rumors and reports could become a major distraction to the Oilers locker room and season overall.
