Darren Dreger Gives an Update on How Likely Connor McDavid Is to Re-Sign with the Edmonton Oilers
A new report from Darren Dreger has given an updated figure for how likely Connor McDavid is to re-sign with the Edmonton Oilers.
Throughout the summer Connor McDavid has been one of the hottest topics around the NHL regarding his contract situation.
Many expected McDavid to re-sign immediately once he was eligible to do so however with just days to go until opening night he remains without an extension.
Even still, after Kirill Kaprizov reset the contract market a few days ago McDavid's extension was expected to follow shortly after and still has not been completed.
This has understandably caused a lot of panic amongst Oilers fans who are now concerned McDavid will not re-sign at all and instead test free agency.
In response to this speculation and worry Darren Dreger spoke about the likelihood of McDavid returning to Edmonton next season.
Darren Dreger Predicts the Likelihood that Connor McDavid Will Re-Sign in Edmonton
In a new report as part of the Barn Burner Show Dreger indicated that as of now McDavid's chances of re-signing are at most 50/50 at this point.
This is an alarming statistic considering just a few months ago McDavid's future in Edmonton was essentially set in stone.
Especially, after Leon Draisaitl committed to the Oilers long-term last summer it seemed the team's superstar duo was on the same page but now even that remains a question mark.
Now, Stan Bowman and the Oilers front office will have to work incredibly hard to turn that coin flip into a signature on the dotted line and a commitment to Edmonton long-term.
As the situation continues developing between McDavid and the Oilers we will bring all of the latest updates.
