Vancouver Canucks Officially Place Key Young Forward on Injured Reserve After Suffering Significant Injury
Today, Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks have officially confirmed that forward Nils Hoglander has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a significant injury.
The Vancouver Canucks have escaped the preseason mostly healthy even after an injury scare involving defenseman Elias Pettersson.
Unfortunately, the Canucks did suffer one significant loss up front as Nils Hoglander was ruled out for 2 plus months due to a lower-body injury.
Heading into the season, Hoglander was expected to take a major step forward and be a key contributor for the Canucks after regressing last season putting up less than 30 points in 72 total games
With Hoglander out for that long the team has officially made a roster move clearing space by placing him on injured reserve.
Now that Hoglander has been ruled out by the Canucks and placed on injured reserve, he can officially be replaced by either someone currently left on the Canucks roster or a player to be called up from the Abbotsford Canucks.
Canucks Reveal New Lines in the Absence of Nils Hoglander
During their most morning skate, the Vancouver Canucks debuted new lines without Hoglander which seem to indicate Arshdeep Bains will get the first opportunity to replace Hoglander.
This could ultimately change with Jonathan Lekkerimaki or 2025 first-round pick Braeden Cootes earning top-six minutes for the Canucks at some point.
As the season gets underway, all eyes will be on new head coach Adam Foote to see if he can keep the team afloat without a key piece like Nils Hoglander in the lineup.
