Adam Henrique has had a very solid career in the NHL, and ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, he opens up on potentially playing 1,000 games in the league. Back in the 2008 NHL Draft, the New Jersey Devils took a chance on Adam Henrique in the third round, and as he approaches 36-years of age, it's safe to say that it was a fantastic selection for the team. After playing eight seasons with the Devils, Henrique has gone on to play a further seven with the Anaheim Ducks before playing two in Edmonton, and now, ahead of his third campaign with the Oilers, he's approaching a major milestone. <h3>Henrique opens up on the 1,000 game milestone</h3> Now, at age 35, Henrique heads into another NHL season, but this time, with a major milestone in mind, as he is just seven games away from hitting 1,000 games played, something that has become a rarity in the National Hockey League. I've thought about it a little bit. When you're approaching that number, it's hard not to. I knew I couldn't get there last year, so I wasn't really thinking about it then. Now, near the end of summer, before the season starts, you try not to dwell on it because you want to focus and prepare for the new season. But since it'll likely happen early on, it'll be nice to enjoy it the ceremony and everything that comes with it. Henrique doesn't reveal when he started thinking about 1,000 games, but he does note that it's not something a player thinks about early in his career, but now, he's on the verge of the impressive mark, and will no doubt be ready to celebrate it. When you come into the league, you aren't thinking, 'I want to get to 1,000 games.' You want to establish yourself first.
