The Jets suffered one of their worst losses of the season vs. the Sabres last night, which prompted a post-game players-only meeting to right the ship. The Winnipeg Jets were hoping that Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Nashville Predators would give them a much-needed spark. However, last night's 5-1 defeat to the Buffalo Sabres, who happen to be ranked 29th in the NHL, was one of their most embarrassing episodes this year, as they faltered in terms of giveaways, defence, as well as their second-line scoring. This was the Jets' ninth loss in their last 13 contests, dropping them to a record of 13-12-0, as the Sabres' record improved to 11-11-4.
What captain Adam Lowry did immediately following the game
After the game, the Jets conducted a players-only meeting in an effort to reverse the slide, with team captain Adam Lowry taking a leadership role. Everybody's got to be a lot better. Keep it at that, forward Kyle Connor said when asked to summarize the theme of the chat. And I believe in this group, the leadership that we have, the players in here. It's in this room. It's got to be us to figure it out and turn this thing around, grab that identity and grab a hold of something that makes us tick. It seems like we're still trying to find that. We have it at nights. We go into Nashville and play a great game, and we kind of show up like that tonight. It's just rallying, everybody being a leader, bringing to the table what you do good, focus on that and be the best you can every single night. Like I said, I believe in this group. Hopefully we look back on this and we grow from it, we learn from it, and use this as a positive in the future. You're hoping that the response into our next game is a lot better than what it was (Monday night), he said. We're a veteran group, we recognize that we just embarrassed ourselves and we're going to have to be a heck of a lot better in the next one.

Loading from Twitter ...

Why this was considered a closed door, players-only meeting
A media session that typically takes 10 minutes to begin after the game ends was delayed, with the media being kept outside the locker room as the team attempted to turn things around. Winnipeg did not change its lineup from its game vs. Nashville, so forward Cole Koepke and defenseman Elias Salomonsson were the healthy scratches. Defenseman Neal Pionk was absent for the fourth consecutive game with a lower-body injury, with forward Haydn Fleury (concussion) and goalie Connor Hellebuyck (knee) still out for a few more weeks. Jets head coach Scott Arniel was pleased with the contributions being made by Lowry, going on to say that it's up to the players to figure things out as they look to end a cycle of losing. After this last loss, with injuries on top of that, the Jets will be tested as they head off on the final game of their five-game road trip, travelling to Montreal.
