A new mock trade has surfaced this morning put together by Tristin McKinstry of Heavy.com that would give the Canucks forward group a major boost. The Vancouver Canucks have been in desperate search of a middle six center to help support Elias Pettersson and the injury riddled Filip Chytil manage their ice-time. To this point, the Canucks have been unsuccessful in their pursuit of help up front falling short in several potential trades for a center. With the season just around the corner, NHL analysts Tristin McKinstry has suggested the Canucks pursue former Conn Smythe winner Ryan O'Reilly.
Vancouver Canucks Linked To Ryan O'Reilly In New Mock Trade
The trade put together by McKinstry would be a blockbuster with O'Reilly heading to Vancouver in exchange for Teddy Blueger, Aatu Raty, and a 2028 second-round pick. Vancouver Canucks acquire: Ryan O'Reilly Nashville Predators acquire: Teddy Blueger, Aatu Raty, and a 2028 second-round pick McKinstry believes landing O'Reilly would allow the Elias Pettersson to focus on being an offensive superstar while O'Reilly takes on the difficult defensive assignments. O'Reilly has been one of the more reliable players in the NHL for a few years. He's not a superstar by any means. However, he remains a defensive stalwart who can still play near the top of the lineup. Over the last 5 seasons, O'Reilly has also been a quality contributor offensively amassing at least 54 points in each of those seasons.

Loading from Twitter ...

At 34 years old O'Reilly still has two seasons left on his contract but has shown no signs of slowing down and could be a great bet to help this Canucks group get back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
