Quinn Hughes met with the media following practice, where he touched upon the team's chase for a playoff spot and spoke about his true feelings on it.

A solid stretch of hockey like they did early in the season could be the wake-up call that the Canucks need to mount a playoff push. They have not won four in a row since Kevin Lankinen's record-breaking NHL road win streak last October.
Now, after rallying for a 4-3 shootout win against New Jersey on Monday, they must defeat the Islanders, Blue Jackets, and Jets to extend their streak. The oddsmakers don't expect them to.
The Canucks' last three-game winning streak was earlier in February before the 4-Nations Face-Off break.
They are five points behind the Blues, who rolled to their seventh consecutive victory Tuesday to stay in the second and final spot of the Western Conference's two wild-card positions with 83 points.

The Canucks do have games in hand for their playoff push

Vancouver does have two games' worth of room to breathe, but Calgary's overtime victory Tuesday puts the Flames four points behind St. Louis with three games in hand on the Blues and a game over Vancouver.
Despite the injury to their number one and number two centers, the Canucks will not surrender. Quinn Hughes remains hopeful about their playoff push, citing the team's goaltending strength.
"It's been my longest year and one of adversity and pretty much with everybody on the team, nobody has played a full season," Hughes told BarDown post-game Monday. "Really proud of our group. We have a lot of care and will do everything we can to try to make the playoffs.

"I believe we can, but if that doesn't happen, I like what we're building here."
He praised Lankinen for his efforts and the return of Thatcher Demko from his 15-game absence.
"He could have won the Vezina (Trophy) last year," Hughes said of the finalist. "When he's in the net, it's a different feeling. He wasn't close to 100 per cent and gutted one out for us and is an absolute beast. One of the most competitive guys I know.

"And that save in overtime and me playing a 2-on-1 like sh*t. Can't say enough about Thatch."

Head coach Rick Tocchet understands the pressure.
"We're trying to find consistency," Tocchet said. "We've got some guys from Abby and we're hanging in there. That's what we're trying to do. As coaches, after losing a game, you can't walk around and be mad. You have to get back into a teaching and energy mode and give guys confidence."

For the Canucks, keeping calm will be essential in upholding their playoff hopes.
