After the Canucks were officially eliminated from any chance of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, captain Quinn Hughes broke his silence and revealed his true thoughts on coach Rick Tocchet. The Vancouver Canucks were informed of their unfortunate fate yesterday - they will not be competing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year.

Loading from Twitter ...

In just a matter of days, their year, which was rife with injury and uncomfortable behind-the-scenes drama, will come to a close, and their summer will begin much earlier than they anticipated. For the last several weeks the future of head coach Rick Tocchet has been in doubt as his contract is set to expire when the season ends. But for anyone who thinks that the Canucks' leadership would like to see a change made behind the bench, think again. Vancouver captain Quinn Hughes spoke glowingly of Rick Tocchet and gave him his full endorsement (as well as assistant coach Adam Foote). He's an amazing coach. You look at me individually and my game, he's been amazing for me - amazing for a lot of guys. He's just a great person, first of all. That's a guy you want to compete for, you want to play for. And he's a terrific coach. Last year, he won the Jack Adams Award, and this year, I think he's probably been even better....Obviously, I'd like to have him back. While it appears as though Tocchet has the full endorsement of the Canucks' captain, there could be major changes in store for the franchise in the upcoming months. The latest comments from Brock Boeser all but officially appeared to be a goodbye message to the Canucks; he can be come an unrestricted free agent on July 1, as he's playing on an expiring contract. It will be up to Tocchet to guide his team, which will look different when they hit the ice in the fall, back to the playoffs next year.
