Vancouver Canucks' Brock Boeser recently spoke to the media where he said he feels like he is fully back to his game, but it may be too little too late. The reality is that these could be Brock Boeser's final days in a Canucks uniform. Still, the veteran winger says he's not considering that. Not yet, anyway. Vancouver faces a mountain.

To stay in the playoff hunt, they'd need to win out, a big ask with Vegas, Dallas, and Colorado still on the schedule. That would require nothing less than a miracle. Much of their plight is their own making. Injury, inconsistency, and the soap opera surrounding Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller have all taken their toll. The team was fairly healthy in December, with big wins against Florida and Colorado. But they were unable to build on them, losing three straight before a bounce-back against the Sharks. That's when the off-ice tension began to percolate publicly. There were chances to save the season, even amid the upheaval, but they slipped away. Their latest road trip wasn't bad on paper, but given their situation, it just wasn't good enough. The overtime loss to St. Louis on March 20 was a tough one to swallow, as St. Louis was just heating up on what's now a 12-game winning streak, prior to their loss last night against the Jets.

Boeser's comments are a tough pill to swallow for Canucks fans
It's been a grind of a season mentally for Boeser. Trade rumors leading up to the deadline got into his head. But he's got his game back on track, and he's proud of how he's responded. This is tough for fans, as it may be too little too late. I'm finally back to my game, says Boeser, who will be a free agent this summer. I've been playing well lately. Since just before the road trip, I've been confident, I've been back to myself. And we're still not officially out. We've got to have that mindset. Still, it stings. He wants to play in the playoffs, where he's had success before, with seven goals in 12 games a year ago. The thought of not being a part of that again is agonizing. He loves Vancouver. The city, the fans, the life he's built. He's a more complete player now, and most of all, he just wants to be able to contribute.
