Per Oilers analyst Bob Stauffer, Edmonton could very well be thinking about adding another forward to aid a potential third straight deep playoff run.

Just because the Edmonton Oilers are the two-time defending Western Conference champions doesn't mean that they're content to stand pat at adding players in order to try and aid themselves on a potential third straight deep playoff run.
The Oilers have already swung one major trade, acquiring goaltender Tristan Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins while sending Stuart Skinner and defenseman Brett Kulak back in return.
As fate would have it, the Penguins and Oilers played one another on Tuesday, with the Oilers getting the better of their former goaltender by scoring five goals on him in a 6-4 win.
Per a new report from longtime Oilers analyst Bob Stauffer, they could be in the market for another top-nine forward despite the eventual return of the injured Jack Roslovic.
What's intriguing me a bit here is the Oilers might have a couple more options that allow them to play a true Top 9 once they get (injured Jack) Roselvic and (injured Kasperi) Kapenen back. And oh, by the way, here's where I tell you, yes, Edmonton's made a trade for Tristan Jarry.

In spite of the fact that Stan Bowman was able to go out and get Jack Roselvic, who probably won't return until maybe the 27th against Calgary in December, I do think that the Edmonton Oilers are still going to add another forward in their Top 9. - Bob Stauffer

Stauffer then said that even though a potential acquisition may not be a major name, the Oilers have made acquisitions in the past of less notable players that ended up paying off for them in postseason runs.
It may not be a super sexy guy. Vasily Podkolzin wasn't, but it's looking like a pretty good bet. Sometimes you don't hit. Right now, (Andrew) Mangiapane not tracking like a hit. Podkolzin and Roslovic, they're tracking like they're hits. - Bob Stauffer

The Trade Deadline this season is March 6.

The Oilers Have Already Made One Major Trade This Season

As mentioned, the Oilers already pulled off one considerable move this season with the acquisition of goaltender Tristan Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
If they want to go on another deep postseason run, GM Stan Bowman may decide they need additional depth in order to make it a reality.
