Connor McDavid shares a special moment with Stuart Skinner ahead of their first game as opponents

There was a major trade on Friday between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Edmonton Oilers involving their respective goaltenders.

The Penguins traded Tristan Jarry and Sam Poulin to the Oilers for Stuart Skinner and Brett Kulak, and as coincidence would have it, Skinner got his first start in a Penguins sweater tonight against the Oilers in Pittsburgh.

But before the game at PPG Paints Arena, cameras caught a special moment between now ex-teammates Connor McDavid and Skinner, who embraced when they saw one another before they got into their hockey gear.

McDavid was outspoken when he was asked what he thinks the legacy of Skinner in an Oilers sweater should be, saying that he wants people to remember how personable he was with people and as the goalie that helped the Oilers go to back to back Stanley Cup Final appearances.

Skinner said that he's happy to be with the Penguins and likened his first start in a Penguins sweater being against the Oilers as being similar to ripping off a bandaid.

He also said he was well aware that there were plenty of rumours surrounding a potential move of his out of Edmonton and that he understands that it's just part of the business of playing in the NHL.

It's not been a good debut so far for Skinner, as his old teammates have now scored four goals on him as the game approaches late in the second period.
