Former NHL tough guy Milan Lucic is returning to professional hockey, as he has signed a contract with the Fife Flyers overseas in the United Kingdom.
Former NHL tough guy Milan Lucic has signed with the Fife Flyers. Lucic brings his expertise and experience overseas to the Flyers. He has played more than 17 seasons in the NHL, featuring 1,177 regular-season matches.
His career in the NHL began with the Boston Bruins, who drafted him in the second round of the 2006 NHL entry draft. He won the Stanley Cup title with the Bruins in 2011.
Details of Milan Lucic's NHL career
Lucic also played for the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, and Calgary Flames and finished his NHL career with 586 points (233 goals and 353 assists).
He made it to the playoffs 11 times, including 2011, where he managed 12 points and five goals in 25 playoff games as Boston won their first Stanley Cup trophy since 1972.
In 2010-11, Lucic led Boston with 62 points and 30 goals, contributing significantly to the Boston Bruins' first Stanley Cup victory in 39 years.
Why Milan Lucic is in for a special reunion with the Flyers
With Fife, Lucic will be reunited with captain Garet Hunt, whom Lucic teamed with in the WHL with the Vancouver Giants to win the 2007 Memorial Cup tournament, earning him tournament MVP honors.
