NHL insider Frank Seravalli clarified the expected return in an Andrew Mangiapane trade, and it appears it would likely be more of a contract dump.

Edmonton Oilers' winger, Andrew Mangiapane, was a healthy scratch during the game against the Winnipeg Jets on Monday, and it is now looking like he will not remain with the Edmonton Oilers for a prolonged period.
In 32 Thoughts this week, Elliotte Friedman suggested that both sides were ready to let Mangiapane go, as he was ready to waive the no-trade clause to get a better fit.
It seems that the process is now in motion. According to Oilers insider Tom Gazzola, Mangiapane's representatives are actively working with the Oilers on a trade.
The Oilers have also allowed other teams to speak with his representatives, and it has been confirmed that the RW is willing to waive his no-trade rights to start over.

What Frank Seravalli revealed about the possible return package

Frank Seravalli provided further insight, suggesting there is genuine scope for a move. He explained that a trade is possible as they likely wouldn't need to retain salary.
However, they need to move the contract as they need flexibility and development, so it's not expected that they would get much in return. This move appears to be purely a salary dump, so possibly some future considerations or a very low draft pick.
"I think there's a potential with Andrew Mangiapane to move on; I don't know that the Oilers would have to retain money at this point, but what you can do is cross off any return; the point should be to try and move on from the contract."

Mangiapane agreed to a two-year, $7.2 million contract with Edmonton in July, with a cap hit of $3.6 million through the end of the 2026-27 season.
There is a full no-trade clause from July 1st, 2025, until June 15th, 2026, and a modified no-trade clause thereafter.

Why the Oilers signed Andrew Mangiapane

The thinking was maybe this former 35-goal scorer in the league could give them some depth in offense, following a more subdued season with the Washington Capitals.
Six months later, a fit has not presented itself yet. However, Stan Bowman is now collaborating with Mangiapane's camp, and a resolution is expected to happen soon.
