NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has confirmed that an Andrew Mangiapane trade is inevitable and revealed the three teams that have recently checked in.

Andrew Mangiapane signed a two-year deal with the Edmonton Oilers this summer, with hopes of winning his first Stanley Cup with this team that has made it to the Finals two years in a row. However, this 29-year-old has had a tough start to this 2025-26 season.
In December, Elliotte Friedman of the Sportsnet Network reported that the Oilers were considering a move to thin out their deep roster of forwards.

What Elliotte Friedman said about the certainty of an Andrew Mangiapane trade

On the Oilers Now Podcast, Friedman mentioned how the Winnipeg Jets, Anaheim Ducks, and the San Jose Sharks have dangled the possibility of making a trade, and he believes one will occur but with no concrete timeline in place yet. He did mention that Mangiapane would welcome a change.
Re Andrew Mangiapane: "I think there's teams that have kicked around, I think Winnipeg's kicked around; Anaheim; San Jose; I've heard it's gonna happen, I just can't give you an exact time."

This year, Mangiapane has been spending most of his time playing on Edmonton's third line, averaging 13 minutes of ice time a game and having no impact on his team's offense.

Why Andrew Mangiapane has been a defensive liability this season

He has played a total of 42 games, scoring a mere five goals and collecting a total of 11 points, being at the bottom of the team with a horrible plus/minus of -18 and a total of 34 penalty minutes.
He is presently signed at a salary of $3.6 million through the 2026-27 season, becoming a free agent subsequently.
His struggles are nothing new. He had 28 points in 81 games with the Capitals in the previous season. Before that, with the Flames in Calgary, he had three years of 40-plus points.
The burning question at this point is which team Mangiapane will ultimately join before the March 6 Trade Deadline, as a trade by Edmonton becomes imminent, and this veteran winger gets his opportunity for a restart.
