The Oilers may need to eventually trade either or both of Troy Stecher and Ty Emberson, and three teams have now emerged as possible partners.

According to reports, trade plans on the blue line have begun for the Edmonton Oilers as they're getting close to having a roster crunch. Veterans Troy Stecher and Ty Emberson are emerging as the most likely candidates for a trade.
Ty Emberson is also considered tradeable, and based on this, it looks like they're about to trade a defenseman soon, and three teams are at the forefront, according to NHL analyst Zach Laing.
Of all these possible trade partners, one of the most notable is the Dallas Stars. Although they have a solid defensive lineup that boasts big names such as Miro Heiskanen, Thomas Harley, and Esa Lindell, their depth is not that deep.
Players such as Ilya Lyubushkin, Lian Bichsel, and Alex Petrovic have struggled, especially during last year's playoff series against Edmonton.
Emberson may be an attractive trade for Dallas because of his youth and potential, and Stecher is always a steady option, though trading within their conference may prove problematic for the Oil.
Another potential destination could be the Carolina Hurricanes, who are currently shorthanded due to injuries.
Without Jaccob Slavin, K'Andre Miller, and Shayne Gostisbehere, Carolina has been left to mix and match call-ups on a daily basis.
According to insider Frank Seravalli, Carolina is currently searching for a temporary fix on the blue line, making Stecher a perfect target for this role. Another potential target could be Emberson, depending on Carolina's plans for their future lineup.

The Vancouver Canucks could look to reunite with their former player

The Vancouver Canucks may be another potential suitor, too. With Derek Forbort and Victor Mancini on its injured list, Vancouver may consider a reunion with Stecher, who was once a fan favorite and played his first NHL season with Vancouver.
Trade talk of Kiefer Sherwood, pegged as a target of Edmonton, may be on, and a trade of Emberson can be considered, too.
Overall, the Oilers' defensive corps has created some curiosity for other teams that could be looking for a temporary or longer-term solution on defense or searching for some depth on their NHL roster.
