Islanders Anders Lee Ejected For Sinister Hit On Nico Hischier

Tonight the New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils found themselves in a battle for a potential spot in the playoffs. The game turned wild when Anders Lee laid out Nico Hischier with a nasty hit.

Early in the second period the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders found themselves in a 0-0 stalemate. Islanders captain Anders Lee was looking to get his team going on one of his early shifts.

To do so Anders Lee came in flying for a hit on Nico Hischier. Unfortunately for both sides, Anders Lee caught Nico Hischier with a nasty knee-on-knee hit.





As a result of the hit Nico Hischier fell to the ice in pain while one of his teammates and fellow star Timo Meier stepped in to defend his captain. Timo Meier and Anders Lee would drop the gloves in a major fight.

This is the second time this month that the New Jersey Devils have fallen victim to a nasty hit from an opponent when New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe was ejected for a dirty hit on Jonas Siegenthaler.

Anders Lee facing potential suspension after ejection

When all was said and done Anders Lee was ejected from the game. Nico Hischier would end up missing all of the second period before he would return for the third period. In his absence, the New Jersey Devils would score three goals in the second period.
