Former Canucks and Flames goalie Louis Domingue has signed a new contract with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL, affiliates of the Florida Panthers.
The Charlotte Checkers have signed goaltender Louis Domingue to a one-year, one-way AHL contract, the team announced today.
Domingue, age 33, was overseas and has appeared in 11 games this season with Sibir Novosibirsk of the KHL, posting a 3.83 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage.
The St-Hyacinthe, Quebec, native has appeared in 226 AHL games over 11 seasons, including 28 with the Hartford Pack back in 2024-25.
Louis Domingue is a solid AHL-caliber goalie
In the AHL, Domingue boasts a solid record of 101-89-27 with a goals-against average of 2.81 and a decent save percentage of .907.
Originally drafted in the fifth round (138th overall) by the Phoenix Coyotes, Domingue has suited up for 144 NHL games with the Phoenix/Arizona franchise, Tampa Bay, New Jersey, Vancouver, Calgary, Pittsburgh, and the New York Rangers.
Domingue joins Charlotte goaltenders Cooper Black and Kirill Gerasimyuk on the Checkers roster for the rest of the season.
Why Louis Domingue has been labeled as "inconsistent" by many experts
In Domingue's 144 games at the top level, he hasn't been an NHL regular. His last time making double-digit appearances in a single season was in 2019-20, and he hasn't been a full-time No. 2 option since the year prior with the Lightning.
He's bounced around a ton of organizations in the last several years as a third or fourth-string option. He'd spent the last three years in the Rangers' system, making just a single start for them at the NHL level in 2023-24 and again in 2024-25.
We wish Domingue the best in his new opportunity with the Checkers in Charlotte.
