NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed new trade information that is involving key players from the Western Canadian teams.

On Oilers Now on Dec. 30, Elliotte Friedman covered a number of key stories around the NHL.
In regard to Jake DeBrusk, Friedman pointed out the Vancouver Canucks are willing to listen, but explained it's clear the recent benching is more of a pause to reset than a wind of change coming.

He further explained he is not expecting anything to happen there, with Kiefer Sherwood being the player to watch instead.
Moving on to Calgary, Friedman observed that the difference between the Flames and Rasmus Andersson is still considerable regarding a new contract.
This is the reason why a trade is becoming more and more likely, although the situation may change if the Flames are holding firm within the playoffs. In general, Friedman believes that Andersson will be traded.

Why the Jets may not be interested in acquiring a rental player

Bob Stauffer also inquired about the strategy of the team in Winnipeg. Friedman explained that the Jets have always shied away from rental players and would make a move only if the price was very low. But in reality, a team like the Jets would look to add a contract player.
Finally, Friedman talked about the scratch of Andrew Mangiapane, saying that it was a restart and had nothing to do with the trade talk, similar to DeBrusk in Vancouver.
He stated that teams in the NHL know that Mangiapane will waive his no-trade clause for a great opportunity.
