Team Canada has officially unveiled its full roster for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics, which are set to take place in Italy.
With just over a month until the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics, Hockey Canada revealed the roster it will bring to Italy, aiming for gold. The team is considered the favorite, but finalizing the lineup required tough choices.
Canada had already confirmed six stars: Oilers' Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Penguins' Sidney Crosby, Brayden Point, Sam Reinhart, and Cale Makar. That left 19 remaining roster spots.
The surprising decisions involving Macklin Celebrini and Connor Bedard
Rising talents Macklin Celebrini and Connor Bedard both made strong pushes for a spot. Celebrini earned a place, while Bedard will sit out due to a shoulder injury.
Another standout was New York Islanders rookie defenseman Matthew Schaefer. The 18-year-old impressed in his first 39 NHL games, yet just missed making the Olympic roster.

Why Team Canada's goaltending appears cloudy
Goaltending was the biggest question. Jordan Binnington, who led Canada to a 4 Nations Face-Off title last year, has struggled early in 2025-26. Meanwhile, Logan Thompson and Darcy Kuemper played their way into serious Olympic consideration.
The finalized roster combines proven stars with promising young talent, giving Canada depth and skill across all positions as it prepares to chase gold in Italy.
