Tristan Jarry unveils his new Oilers mask after blockbuster trade landing him in Edmonton
Injured Edmonton Oilers goaltender Tristan Jarry, acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier this month, recently unveiled his new mask artwork that he'll be wearing the rest of the year upon his return.
On the same day that the Minnesota Wild acquired superstar defenseman Quinn Hughes from the Vancouver Canucks, there was another major trade in the NHL involving the Pittsburgh Penguins and Edmonton Oilers.
The Oilers acquired Tristan Jarry and Sam Poulin from the Pittsburgh Penguins, and sent Stuart Skinner and Brett Kulak back to the Penguins in return.
Not much has gone right for Skinner and the Penguins since the trade was made, as his SV% and GAA remain at extremely subpar levels and cast major doubt on his future with the team as a pending UFA.
Jarry won his first two starts in an Oilers sweater, including beating his ex-Penguins teammates, but he was hurt in his third start against the Boston Bruins.
In the meantime, he's released his new mask artwork that he'll be wearing for the rest of the year, and it includes his familiar "Tom and Jerry" motif.
Tristan Jarry Was Hurt In Just His Third Game In An Oilers Sweater
Jarry was hurt against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden earlier this month, and has been subsequently ruled as week to week with his injury per head coach Kris Knoblauch.
In the meantime, the Oilers have turned to former Utah Mammoth goaltender Connor Ingram, who made three straight starts before giving way to Calvin Pickard in last night's win over the Jets.
Jarry, who began his professional career with the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings, is still under contract for another two years beyond this one with an AAV (average annual value) of $5,375,000.
