Former Vancouver Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau pointed out what he feels is the biggest issue facing the Winnipeg Jets amidst their struggles.
The Winnipeg Jets are only a year removed from winning the President's Trophy as the best team in the NHL and advancing to Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinal.
This year, it's a completely different story, as they're tied for last place in the Central Division with the Chicago Blackhawks, a startling contrast compared to where they were at this time last season at the top of the League.
They did lose Nikolaj Ehlers to free agency, but the other players they've brought in like Jonathan Toews and Gustav Nyquist have not been scoring, and other main contributors from last year like Nino Niederreiter and Vladislav Namestnikov are also struggling.
Former NHL head coach Bruce Boudreau, who saw plenty of the Jets when he coached the Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks, said the lack of secondary scoring is one of their main issues.
If they had any other line scoring goals, they wouldn't be in this mess they're in.
They've got that goalie, they've got that defence. They should be able to hold their own defensively. But you've got to score goals in this league. - Bruce Boudreau

Bruce Boudreau Says Jets Coach Scott Arniel May Need To Make Tough Roster Decisions
Boudreau then said that Jets head coach Scott Arniel may need to start sending messages to other players who are not getting the job done scoring wise.
Whether that means sitting out a guy that has been a regular forever, just to say 'We're not going to take it anymore, we've got to get going, I've given you guys all the rope you want and we're getting the same results.
You know, I think something has to be done, a move where guys are like 'I better get my ass in gear, I'm next.'- Bruce Boudreau

So far this year, the Jets are 22nd overall in goals for per game, and 30th overall since November 4.
