Driver's reckless behavior and lies revealed in tragic deaths of Gaudreau brothers

The hockey community has been reeling, mourning the loss of Johnny and Matthew, who were struck by a drunk driver, Sean Higgins, while riding their bikes.

Higgins was arrested and appeared in court over the weekend, where he learned he'd remain in custody at least until at least Thursday.

Higgins attempted to overtake a car on the left and got frustrated when an SUV blocked his way. Instead of backing off, he tried to pass on the right and ended up hitting their bikes. His claim of having just 5 to 6 beers is clearly a lie. It's infuriating to see him sigh like that just because the judge won't let him go home.

Reports have revealed that the brothers had attended their sister Katie's wedding rehearsal dinner and decided to bike home rather than drive or get a ride from a family member. It was a final moment of brotherly love.

Their loss is a tragedy and the brothers leave behind young families, with their wives, Meredith and Madeline Gaudreau, now facing the daunting task of raising their young children alone.

Adding to the sorrow, Higgins had a previous DUI charge from 2005 that was dismissed after an officer failed to show up for the court date. That likely won't be the case this time around.
