Chilling details revealed regarding how Gaudreau brothers arrived at accident scene

Late Thursday night into Friday morning, the hockey world was in a state of shock and deeply in sorrow with the tragic loss of Johnny Gaudreau and his little brother Matthew. The two were tragically struck by a drunk driver named Sean Higgins while riding their bicycles.

Higgins, arrested shortly after the incident, was seen in court this weekend via video. He was told during the proceedings he would stay in custody at least until Thursday. In complete and utter lack of remorse, Higgins acted as though it was more of an inconvenience being detained than it was about the lives he took.

The brothers were on their way home from a wedding rehearsal dinner for their sister when the tragedy occurred. According to John Buccigross, they opted to ride bicycles rather than drive or catch a ride with another family member.

This tragedy occurred four days ago, and it still feels like it isn't happening. The world lost two men who were both in their prime, leaving behind small families. The wives, Meredith and Madeline, are now left to raise children on their own, children who will grow up without a father. It's a deep pain where no words serve to make it any clearer.

Making the tragedy worse, it now has come out that Sean Higgins had a previous DUI in 2005, which was thrown out due to the arresting officer failing to come to court. Had things been different then, maybe the Gaudreau brothers would still be alive today.
