Columbus Blue Jackets offer up amazing gesture to all players following tragedy

The loss the Columbus Blue Jackets are experiencing is tragic, heartbreaking, and it means a great deal to the late valued teammate and leader of the organization, Johnny Gaudreau. It is literally the nightmare scenario that no team should ever have to live through, and our thoughts are with the players, coaches, and staff as they work their way through this awful time in their lives.

In that regard, the organization, through the NHLPA, is taking drastic measures in line with the need to support their team through this disastrous situation. According to Aaron Portzline, grief counselors will be available for all the team members since the need for support during this very painful period is dire. Making counselors available for them is key in finding a way to help them get through this loss, and they encourage the players to make sure to take advantage of this. Reaching out in such matters is a sign of strength, not weakness.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the Gaudreau family and to the entire Blue Jackets organization as they navigate this terrible loss.
