The Sabres and Lightning took the ice tonight for a potential playoff preview and early in the game things went off the rails as Brandon Hagel jumped Rasmus Dahlin.
The Buffalo Sabres welcomed in the Tampa Bay Lightning to Buffalo with first place in the Atlantic Division on the line.
The game was expected to be heated and have plenty of physicality but things reached a whole new wild level as Lighting star Brandon Hagel attacked Rasmus Dahlin.

Just a few minutes into the second period a scrum broke out between Dahlin and Hagel.
As the two fought Hagel lost his cool and completely attacked Dahlin trying to start a fight Dahlin wanted no part of.
As a result of the fight, all of the players on the ice joined in the brawl leading to a party in both penalty boxes and an insane amount of penalty minutes.
As for the action on the ice, the Sabres and Lightning are tied at 4 heading into the third period.

The third period brought much of the same excitement that the early game had except this time goals were at the forefront instead of fights and scrums.
After blowing the lead, the Sabres found themselves down 7-6 with just a few minutes to go.
But, just as they have all year the Sabres got hot at the right time and buried back to back goals to take the win 8-7.
In total, the game featured 15 goals and 102 penalty minutes between the two teams which now places it as an instant classic in the history of the NHL.
Now, the Sabres hold sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Division as they look to break their playoff drought.
