The Philadelphia Flyers are Still Regretting Passing Over Cole Caufield

The Philadelphia Flyers have figured out the hard way, more than once already, that they made a monumental blunder in the 2019 draft.

During that auction, when they had the 14th overall selection in the draft, the Pennsylvania outfit decided to set their sights on defenseman Cam York, rather than prolific All-American goal scorer Cole Caufield.

If people in Montreal were particularly excited about Caufield's selection at No. 15 by the Habs, in Philly it was total disappointment.

Who doesn't remember that little gem that made the rounds on the web at the time, in a Philadelphia bar, where Flyers fans were yelling "Cole" repeatedly and reacted very negatively after hearing Cam York's name on the mic.

If Caufield's non-selection was a big deal in Philly, it's possibly even bigger now, as the CH's #22 is establishing himself as one of the NHL's top scorers, while York still hasn't broken through to the Flyers' defensive squad.

Was York a bad choice at the time? Not at all, as he has excellent potential.

On the other hand, York is currently playing in the AHL, as the CH's number 22 hurt the Flyers once again with a two-goal, one-assist performance yesterday.

The science of the draft is very unpredictable, and it's sometimes fascinating how in a short period of time, a bad move like the Flyers' in the 2019 draft has become a stroke of genius on the part of Habs management.

In fact, some people online took the time yesterday to thank the Flyers organization for their monumental blunder, which gave us Caufield on a silver platter.
