Earlier today, former Montreal Canadiens forward Devante Smith-Pelly made a major announcement regarding his future in professional field hockey.

"Devante Smith-Pelly announces his retirement." - Renaud Lavoie

Here is his official release:
Smith-Pelly, 30, was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Jiri Sekac in 2015.
He concludes his professional career with the following statistics:
- 101 points and 44 goals, in 395 NHL regular season games
- 16 points and 13 goals in 51 NHL playoff games
- 137 penalty minutes.
He also had 8 points in 24 games in 2021-22 in his most recent stint with the Laval Rocket.
We applaud his choice of team vest in his publication. He had already admitted that his time with the Canadiens was the best moment of his career.
