Pierre LeBrun reveals major new information on who the Oilers are targeting

Despite having one of the best offenses in the NHL, which is made up of the two best scorers in the league, the defense has been struggling for some time and Oilers fans have started to get frustrated because they see the same story being repeated every year.

The team's GM, Ken Holland, still hasn't found a defenseman who could solidify his defense, but the situation could change very soon.

According to the latest information obtained by Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic and TSN, the Oilers are interested in Arizona Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun, but also Joel Edmundson of the Canadiens.

The tipster also added that Holland has been talking to Kent Hughes in the last few days about Edmundson, which means that the two teams have been talking about a possible trade involving the veteran Tricolore defenseman.

It must be said that clearly the price is not the same for the two options on Holland's table right now. Arizona is asking for the moon for Chychrun and that's why the defenseman is still a member of the Coyotes, despite being on the market since last year.

The Coyotes last demands for Chychrun were two first round picks, plus a top prospect, as well as an NHL starting player.

Would the Oilers be willing to pay such a price for the 25 year old? I highly doubt it, especially since Holland is not known for making such big trades.

Compared to the Habs who would demand a first round pick for Edmundson according to LeBrun, the price seems to make a lot more sense. As the Oilers don't want to sacrifice too much of their future to add a defenseman to solidify the defensive brigade.
