The Edmonton Oilers played an afternoon game today against the Edmonton Oilers. It was a massively special day for one Oilers player.

Oilers Rookie Scores His First Goal

In the first period of a game between the Edmonton Oilers and Tampa Bay Lightning, a first career goal was scored. Forward James Hamblin popped home a puck to put the Oilers up by 2.


Any first goal is a big deal in the NHL but this one was extra special for Hamblin. As you can see Hamblin makes a gesture to the sky which was a tribute to his mother.

Hamblin's Emotional Tribute To His Mom

The point toward the sky was joined with the words " I love you mom" from Hamblin. This was a goal dedicated to his mother who passed away after a battle with cancer in 2017.
