During a warm-up game between Canada and Slovakia at the World Junior Championship, Shane Wright accidentally scored in his own goal. It was also the only goal for the Slovaks, who lost 6-1. Fortunately, it was only an exhibition game, so the result was not very dramatic for Team Canada. On the other hand, the fourth overall pick in the last draft still prevented teammate Ben Gaudreau from recording a shutout. Obviously, both teammates chose to make light of the situation, and rightly so, but the Canadian captain will not escape unscathed. In an interview with TSN, he admitted that he now owes his goalie a debt of gratitude. <I saw Brennan Othmann on the other side of the ice and I tried to make a long pass to him, but the puck hit Ben and went into the goal. I told him I owed him a nice dinner later this week or month! - Shane Wright</q> However, goaltender Ben Gaudreau sniffed out something else that would do his bidding to get compensated!
