In last night's Ducks-Penguins game, the Duck's Head Coach was ejected after losing his cool on an official during the game.

Greg Cronin Furiously Ejected After Losing Challenged Play

Greg Cronin blew up on officials after a play that was determined to be goaltender interference. A potential Ducks goal was waived off due to goaltender interference, to which Cronin decided to challenge. After losing the challenge, he blew up on officials, getting tossed for his actions.
Ducks head coach Greg Cronin was furious with the call and received a bench minor for unsportsmanlike conduct, on top of the delay of game minor for a failed coaches challenge. 😳

This left the Ducks killing a 5-3, as he was given an unsportsmanlike penalty. Evgeni Malkin would score to tie the game on the ensuing powerplay.

NHL Taking All Steps To Protect Officials

The NHL is doing everything in its power to protect officials. Gary Bettman and the NHL even held a special meeting prior to the start of the season with every coach and GM in attendance to remind them not to speak about bad officiating.
Well Gary Bateman basically put the axe on any players or coaches blasting the officiating (even if it's terrible). All thats left are the agents and honestly this game needs more critical voices like this.

The NHL has a small argument in wanting to protect officials. However, this is a fine line to walk. Being critical of the refs to some degree could be good for the game as a whole. However, it often leads to outbursts like Cronin's above, which isn't great.
