We thought the Habs weren't on Jeff Petry's no-trade list because he had signed his contract in Montreal, and we were wrong. In fact, of the 15 cities Petry didn't want to move to, the Habs weren't one of them, and Eric Engels answered the many questions on the subject. It was thanks to a privileged interview the journalist had with the family that he was able to give these details to Tony Marinaro's podcast, the Sick Podcast. I don't believe that even in their wildest dreams, the Petrys believed that they would be traded back to Montreal and that's why they hadn't put the Habs on their list of 15 teams where they would refuse to be traded. - Eric Engels In other words, the defenseman did have the chance to put the Habs on his list, but he didn't because he was playing the odds. Unfortunately for him, it backfired. It's a good thing he chose hockey over poker, because the odds weren't in his favor! All joking aside, Petry confirmed that Kent Hughes is actively trying to trade him before the start of the season, and if he doesn't succeed, he'll come to Montreal as a true professional and accept his fate.

Does Jeff Petry play at all for the Canadiens?@TonyMarinaro and @EricEngels discuss the #Habs 3-way trade.

Full pod👇🏻
Watch: https://t.co/FLVWWBds0o
Listen: https://t.co/Mrzs9GzVWQ#GoHabsGo #thesickpodcast pic.twitter.com/yyV2Yqq3qv- The Sick Podcast with Tony Marinaro (@thesickpodcasts) August 8, 2023
