MOCK TRADE: Mark Scheifele Heads To Eastern Conference Contender

The Jets window to compete seems to be closing more and more each year. Eventually they will need to cut their losses and give up on the current core. In a mock trade that process gets started with Scheifele heading out.

The Boston Bruins center crop has been decimated this off-season. With Patrice Bergeron retiring and the looming retirement of David Krejci Boston will be very thin down the middle. In comes Mark Scheifele who could fill this role perfectly.

Boston gets their man in Scheifele and reloads for another run at the cup. This allows them to take advantage of the core that led them to a record breaking season. They do lose out on a top four defenseman in Brandon Carlo and a top prospect in Fabian Lysell. This could create a need for an additional move to bring in a defenseman.

For the Jets they jump start a rebuild. They have young pieces in Kyle Connor and Nikolaj Ehlers. This adds another couple of young pieces in Lysell and Carlo who both fit their revamped timeline to compete. They also get a 2026 second rounder to re-stock their prospect pool.
