Insider Hints Star Goalie Likely to be Traded Soon
The Calgary Flames have been at the centre of many trade rumours as of late, and now a top NHL Insider has all but confirmed the recent reports about superstar goaltender Jacob Markstrom.
Kevin Weekes hints at blockbuster Jacob Markstrom deal
Over the past few weeks, the whispers have grown louder surrounding Jacob Markstrom, who has been linked to several contenders with the goaltender market growing ahead of the March 8 trade deadline.
Now, Kevin Weekes has cryptically hinted that there may be truth to all of the reports, simply posting this on X, formerly known as Twitter this morning.
A fantastic start to the year has Markstrom's value high
While he fell back last year after a Vezina caliber season in 2021-22, he appears to be back to his best in 2023-24, posting a 2.65 GAA and a .910 save percentage on the season.
With teams like Toronto, New Jersey, Edmonton, Carolina and others looking for help in net, if the Flames want to kick-start their re-tool, then moving Markstrom for a haul may just be the way to get that done.
